Why Uplink and Downlink Signal Extractors Cannot Be Swapped

Understand the design differences between uplink RF420 and downlink RF430 and the hard engineering red lines.

The signal extractor is a key passive component in private-network coverage systems, split into the uplink extractor RF420 and the downlink extractor RF430.

Different Uplink / Downlink Directions

The uplink extractor extracts the terminal uplink signal from the distribution system to the receiver; the downlink extractor distributes the base-station downlink signal into the distribution system.

The port direction, isolation specs, and frequency range of both are designed for a specific direction; swapping them causes signal leakage and reduced isolation, and in severe cases burns out the receiver.

Engineering Red Lines

  • Uplink and downlink extractors are not interchangeable
  • A directional coupler cannot substitute for a signal extractor
  • The Pro+ version connects to the S200 NMS for remote monitoring
